A new café and farm shop which is to become the only community-run farm shop in Scotland is gearing up to open in East Ayrshire tomorrow.
Ayrshire Food Hub in Crossroads will be opening its doors at 9am tomorrow, Wednesday, April 28. The Hub will be home to a café, farm shop, training kitchen, event space and community garden.
Created by development trust Crossroads Community Hub, the comprehensive space will directly contribute to the trust’s charitable work throughout the local area.
Trust Secretary, Mary Laidlaw, said: “All profits from our farm shop and café will be used to continue funding the free community meals that we have provided in response to COVID, as well as our practical food and gardening activities for all ages once they are allowed to restart.”
Both the café and the farm shop will showcase the very best of local producers – with butchery, fruit and veg, cheeses, chocolates and coffees among the many local products available at the Hub.
Mary added: “Being able to buy a wide range of quality Ayrshire produce all under one roof will be fantastic. It represents a great saving on food miles, too.”
The team have taken every precaution to set up the Hub in a way that will ensure customers can feel safe when they visit. Check out Ayrshire Food Hub on Facebook for more.
