A new planter has been installed at Auchinleck railway station, breathing new life into the currently under-used station.
The planter, which is in the shape of a train, was built by prisoners at Glenochil Prison in Clackmannanshire and was commissioned by Tracy Stevenson, the community development manager at ScotRail.
Auchinleck CDI have adopted both the Auchinleck station and also the New Cumnock one, through the ScotRail Adopt a Station scheme and were quick to fill their new planter with winter plants and perennials.
Through the Adopt a Station scheme, local people can volunteer to take care of their local railways station and improve their appearance through the creation of garden and green spaces.
Kaye Hannah, manager at the Knowe Garden Centre, part of Auchinleck CDI, said: “There’s not much travel at present, but it really brightens up the platform!”
Currently more than 270 ScotRail stations and 1,200 volunteers are now part of Adopt a Station.
