The Scottish wedding scene is bouncing back after lockdown, giving happy couples the chance to discover the perfect place to hold their special day
With coronavirus cancelling everyone’s summer plans, now is the ideal time to plan happy memories to fill 2021.
We’ve taken some of the stress of wedding planning off your shoulders and sourced a handful of great venues here in Ayrshire.
Lochside House Hotel, Lodges and Spa, New Cumnock
For those seeking a night of glamour, this luxurious venue is the one for you.
Their function suite is closed for renovation until Spring 2021, but the finished room will be adorned with tiered crystal chandeliers, panoramic windows, and champagne gold finishes.
Nestled between the Loch of Lowes and the hills of Glen Afton, the hotel’s location couldn’t be more perfect for photo opportunities.
The wraparound patio allows guests to enjoy the rural, idyllic scenery from the comfort of modernity.
The Barn at Dalduff, Maybole
Rustic charm can be found a 20-minute drive from Ayr.
The Barn at Dunoon is exactly that, a barn renovated in 2007 to become a fantastic little venue any Pinterest user would be proud of.
Although many of its original features remain, fairy lights hang from the ceiling and the stone walls have been whitewashed.
Optional features such as a vintage Welsh dresser, a full-length mirror, large wooden stage, and whisky barrels can be added.
Couples also have access to a peaceful courtyard and garden.
Brig o’ Doon House, Alloway
A stone’s throw from the birthplace of Robert Burns, there couldn’t be a more fitting place to have a good old-fashioned Scottish knees up.
Party like the poet would by serving a haggis dinner and dancing the night away at a ceilidh.
Newlyweds can even take photos on the ancient stone bridge that inspired the poem Tam o’ Shanter.
The interiors look like something taken straight from a period novel and there is plenty of green space for wedding guests to relax and enjoy a tipple.
It truly feels like you have stepped into a fairy-tale.
Gailes Hotel, Irvine
Ever dreamed of getting married in a rooftop garden? Then we have just the place for you.
This award-winning hotel boasts not only that but also the chance for couples to stay in a lavish penthouse, complete with personal hot tub and sauna.
Guests can enjoy sweeping views across the coast to the Isle of Arran, showcasing Irvine at its best.
Other prominent features of the venue include a grand fairytale staircase (think Rose’s grand entrance scene in Titanic), private sprawling gardens, and traditional fireplaces.
The Waterside, West Kilbride
Found in the middle of the road between West Kilbride and Ardrossan, the Waterside hotel looks like something taken straight from the set of Forrest Gump.
The sweet baby blue, American marina style façade is definitely one for those looking for something a little more on the quirky side.
The main reception area has clear views of the coast thanks to head to floor glass windows, which open to reveal a private garden and a beach path - a fun place to get photos taken so long as you don’t mind a little sand in your shoes.
