A FASCINATING insight into the world of maths was given to pupils in an Auchinleck school, writes Stewart McConnell.
Last week, St Patrick’s Primary School held a ‘Maths in Action’ workshop for parents, carers and grandparents.
Some of the Primary six and seven pupils gave a presentation to the parents, showing some of the resources they use in Mathematics.
The parents, carers and grandparents were then split into five groups.
P7 pupils took each group to visit each of the classes.
Then the visitors joined in with the activities and listened to the children explaining maths concepts and strategies. The feedback they received from the parents was amazing.
Catriona Gray, Head Teacher said the event had been a resounding success.
She said: “It was great to see the children so confident in showing us how they were learning. I loved how passionate the children were about what they were doing.
"Wonderful to see the children engaged in such a huge variety of learning activities.”
