A NEW activity group has been set up for kids with additional support needs.
Unique in New Cumnock started last month and – judging by the photos – the kids have loved every minute of it.
Every Thursday at 6pm, the group meets in the town hall and the kids enjoy unlimited fun for just £1.
The group was set up with help from East Ayrshire Council but is looking to become self sustaining with the kids and their parents at the heart of it.
That means that the group members will get to have their voices heard when decisions are made and they will be able to control the group’s future.
Chloe Wallace is involved in running the group and she wants to spread the word far and wide.
She told the Chronicle: “Unique is an activity group for five-to-18-year-olds who have additional support needs.
“We’ve put out loads of flyers because we want to get the word out there.
“Sessions run every Thursday from 6pm to 7pm at New Cumnock Town Hall and cost £1.
“There are lots of different activities and so far we have had arts and crafts, bowling and Lego.
“The group was set up through the council and the plan is to eventually have it run by the participant’s parents. We now have a committee set up to drive it forward.”
Cumnock Chronicle photographer Charlie Gilmour went along to see what all the fuss was about and snapped some of the action.
