PUPILS from Cumnock Academy have been involved in excavation work taking place at the new Barony Campus site.
AOC Archaeology project officer, Jessica Lowther, praised the young people who took part and said: “The visits were successful and the kids had some great questions.”
They found out many interesting facts about the area which will be home to their new school with the help of Emma Kinney, principal teacher of history at Cumnock Academy.
Head teacher at the school, Peter Gilchrist, said: “This excavation provided an excellent experience for our young people to see how the excavation process works on their own doorstep
“And it also saw them being involved in the evolution of their local history.”
