I too was a friend of John’s and his death came as a huge shock to me. He was a great guy who I remember with tremendous fondness - dating back to school days in Annan, university days in Glasgow and a summer spent working together at DB Marshall’s Chunky Chicken Factory in Coupar Angus ! I also had the pleasure of knowing his parents, Charlie and Ag, very well - and his brother Jim. My sincere condolences, Rebecca and family, on the very sad loss of a special bloke. John was one of the best. It would be nice if you could get in touch so that I can reminisce.

Thank you so much for this. It means so much to us all

I was shocked to hear of John’s passing from a friend in Scotland. I have known John for many years, from the time he joined my class in Annan Academy, through the years of delivering morning newspapers and his time at Strathclyde University and beyond. Many laughs and much fun was had during this time. I’m pleased to have been able to catch up with him over a beer or two in September 2017 when I last visited Scotland when we were able to reminisce on the old days. I hope to attach a class photo, if my technical ability permits. John is front row extreme left with me beside him. My condolences and sympathy to his family, he was super bloke.
