Kello Rovers have already begun the process of rebuilding for 2024-25 after their relegation to the bottom tier of the West of Scotland Football League was confirmed.

The Super K fell to a 2-0 defat at home to Dalry on Saturday, meaning they will be playing in the fourth division next season.

The damage was done at the beginning of the campaign, when injury issues meant Kello had to wait until the 10th league match before picking up a win.

And while the second half of the campaign has included some notable results, including victories on the road against Dalry Thistle and Girvan and at home to Finnart and Kilsyth, as well as battling displays against eventual champions Lanark and second-top Bellshill, that slow start to the campaign left Rovers with too much to do to avoid the drop into the Fourth Division.

Dispute the club's relegation being confirmed, those behind the scenes at Nithsdale Park remain upbeat about the team's future, and have started planning for next season.

A club spokesperson said: "This season has been a real challenge for the club, with ongoing injury concerns across the squad throughout the season.

"The players showed real commitment to the cause and picked up some big wins against league and promotion challengers, giving us a fighting chance of survival.

"However, the poor run of results from the start of the season at the height of our woes left us with too much work to be done."

They added: "Despite the disappointment of the season and unprecedented issues faced, we as a club go forward in a strong position both on and off the park with ongoing developments.

"Although relegation was only confirmed yesterday, it's something that we have all been planning for as a strong possibility.

"As a result we have already began building for next season with the squad resigning, with individual announcements to be made in due course, and discussions having already started with new signings for the 2024/25 campaign.

"We'd like to thanks all the fans and sponsors for their support, without which a community club like ours couldn't survive."

Kello round off their campaign with a trip to Threave Rovers on Wednesday (May 8), before a home match against Lesmahagow on Saturday.

Kello could soon be swapping places with Lugar Boswell Thistle, who need just two points from their last two matches to secure promotion to the Third Division.
